MASSAGE
This is one of the most exciting tools of my profession as a Movement Practitioner. I graduated from Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics in August 2013, and am practicing at Absolute Relaxation in Olympia and my own business CrossFunction Massage in DuPont.
The Mind and Body have an inseparable connection in the world of Movement.
I chose massage as my major line of work because it can incorporate many wellness modalities to make movement Better. My type of massage comes from the four quadrant multi-disciplines: Movement, Modality, Function, and Rehab. My office setting is in a wrestling/grappling mat gym for those perhaps less comfortable in clinical or spa atmospheres but rather athletic in nature and able to wear tank top and shorts on the entire session. Get in, get fixed, go compete!
ATHLETE
In Sports, have you ever felt anxiety where your stomach drops and legs paralyze? Any other reactions? There are many ways of resolving these, one is with Craig Sigl’s program with Mental Toughness Zone. Also there is a physical body pre-game calm-down the day before, or day of, using massage techniques. Or perhaps you need to energize certain muscle fibers or brain responses before an event. Each person individually acts and reacts a different way to different modalities, and I am excited to be able to use many physical instruments as well as recovery tools and massage techniques to make your performance OPTIMUM.
Is there a certain muscle pattern that is getting the way of your performance? Any scar tissue or whiplash event or stuck movements occurring? Is there an imbalance from your left to right side? As an athlete, I have been there. I have experienced the physical effects of mental patterns (both good and unproductive) directly affecting the body; of tissues becoming stuck together from hard practices; that feeling of near overuse or onset of injury; etc. Thankfully with Quality Coaching, Good eating/sleeping habits, Great recovery (including continual massage for injury prevention and applied mental techniques), and a fantastic team, I have never had a full blown injury while training for the Olympic Trials. My desire is to make these results available for you.
GENERAL
Movement is essential even if you are not an athlete… or are a gracefully aged former athlete! Our society is fast paced and overwhelming at times. Most of us can name 20 things on our to-do lists and usually ourselves is the one that gets excluded! Until an unexpected health issue arises or serious illness or injury occurs, is when we finally take the “me-time” our body so desperately calls for. Even if you do not like the concept of someone touching your body, there are other modalities to calm your mind and ease the tension of your daily life. In my interactions with friends, clients, and other individuals, I hear more about issues about low back pain, headaches, and overuse injuries than ever before. I am excited to learn how to specialize on the above, to help be a part of your holistic solution to relieve the discomfort to debilitating pain, so you can go from just Living, to Thriving!
